Judging

Judging of the Victorian Sport Awards follows a strict set of selection guidelines. Award categories and their applicable assessment methods are outlined below:

Victorian Coach of the Year
Victorian Community Coach of the Year
Victorian Official of the Year
Victorian Community Official of the Year
Victorian Young Volunteer of the Year
Victorian Young Athlete of the Year
Victorian Masters Sport Award
Victorian Team of the Year
Victorian Young Team of the Year
Victorian Community Sporting Club of the Year
Victorian Male Athlete of the Year
Victorian Female Athlete of the Year

The above award categories are judged as follows:

  • A selection of State Sporting Association (SSA) and Regional Sport Assembly (RSA) Chief Executive Officers and Presidents review nominations and assess according to the respective selection criteria.
  • The above SSA and RSA representatives will be required to vote 3, 2, 1 for each of their allocated categories.
  • Votes are tallied to determine the highest scoring nomination.
  • The determined results are reviewed by the Victorian Sport Awards Judging Panel.
  • In the case of a tie relating to voted awards, the judging panel will have the casting vote and previous performances/achievements may be taken into account.
  • SSA and RSA Chief Executive Officers and Presidents will be precluded from voting on any award where the sport they represent is nominated.
  • The judging panel reserves the right to use its discretion as applicable including the ability to move nominations to more appropriate categories.

Victorian Sport Development Initiative of the Year – Full & Associate Member
Victorian Community Sporting Event of the Year
Outstanding Contribution to Victorian Sport
Service to Victorian Community Sport & Recreation

The above awards are judged as follows:

  • The Victorian Sport Awards Panel (VSAP), comprised of a cross section of the Victorian sport industry representatives, review nominations* and assess according to the respective selection criteria.
  • Panel members will be required to vote 3, 2, 1 for each of the above six award categories.
  • Votes are tallied to determine the highest scoring nomination.
  • Should the voting result in a tie in any category the VSAP will engage in discussion to come to an agreement on the winner.
  • In the case of a tie relating to voted awards, the judging panel will have the casting vote and previous performances/achievements may be taken into account.
  • The judging panel reserves the right to use its discretion as applicable including the ability to move nominations to more appropriate categories.

* No nominations are sought externally for the Outstanding Contribution to Sport Award.


Victorian Sports Administrator of the Year

The above award is judged as follows:

  • VPN members will be required to vote 3, 2, 1 for the award.
  • Votes are tallied to determine the highest scoring nomination.
  • The determined results are reviewed by the Victorian Sport Awards Judging Panel.
  • In the case of a tie relating to voted awards, the judging panel will have the casting vote and previous performances/achievements may be taken into account.
  • The judging panel reserves the right to use its discretion as applicable including the ability to move nominations to more appropriate categories.
