Professional Development and Mentoring Program

vicsport are running a unique and innovative professional development and mentoring program that will commence Wednesday 1 April, 2009.

The program is funded by the Department of Planning and Community Development (Sport and Recreation Victoria) and will be delivered for State Sporting Associations. This pilot program is open to women currently employed in middle management positions within SSA’s, with the aim of up skilling future high level managers and CEO’s.

Program Details:

The program will cover a range of topics aimed at improving fundamental sports management and leadership skills and will be delivered by high level managers and CEO’s currently working in the industry. Upon completion of the course, each participant will be matched with a suitable mentor within the business or sport sector to assist in their ongoing professional development. Participants will be encouraged to apply learning’s from the course within their own organisation.

Program Modules: 

  • finance/budgeting 
  • human resource management 
  • professional writing 
  • strategic planning 
  • business communication 
  • governance

Additional topics may be included depending on the needs and interests of the group.

Date: Wednesday 1 April 2009 – Wednesday 5 August 2009 (Mentoring may be ongoing based on individual agreements)

Time: 9.00 – 1.00pm (fortnightly)

Cost: Free

Eleven participants have been chosen to undertake the program from a variety of State Sports Associations in Victoria.
