Junior Sport
Sport and active recreation clubs and organisations have a positive influence on young people. It is in these environments where our youth meet and associate with the most important people in their lives: parents, siblings, friends, coaches, teachers, and mentors. It is suggested it is in these places young people learn what is expected of them and what to expect from others, especially adults. In short, this is where young people learn powerful lessons, both good and bad, about the role of the individual in society.
By enabling young people to be part of a team and to participate in activities that are key parts of the Australian culture and ethos, sport can help young people to feel a sense of belonging. Sporting activities can also contribute to mental health and wellbeing by enhancing young people’s physical health and skills, thereby building their sense of self esteem and control.
Providing safe participation opportunities for our young people is a vital role in keeping our children healthy and connected to the community.
